Art History Lessons in the Vault

Gothic and Romanesque Architecture & Stained Glass

Students compare and contrast Romanesque and Gothic architecture, use stained-glass art conventions to create their own project, and learn how art and architecture can express and preserve the culture and ideas of their time period. This lesson is tailored for elementary and will need some tweaking for higher grades.

James Rizzi

Students explore the style elements of Rizzi’s work and compare it with the works of Georges Seurat, then complete an original artwork in the style of James Rizzi. This lesson is tailored for elementary and will need some tweaking for higher grades.
